Just like with humans, anxiety is relatively common in dogs. Dogs also can have a visceral response to noise – and this creates what’s commonly termed: noise anxiety in dogs. This type of anxiety runs the spectrum from mild to debilitating and manifests itself in a number of ways.

The most common root cause of anxiety in dogs is due to abandonment issues. Whether dumped, left at a shelter, or being alone, many dogs exhibit anxiety when they experience separated from their human. Dogs with these conditions are also extremely sensitive to noise disturbances.

Signs of Noise Anxiety in Dogs

Dogs show a variety of signs when anxious, these including exhibiting passive or aggressive behavior.  It’s important to note that a dog may only show one sign of anxiety, or a combination. Here are some behaviors to look for:
